The Vero Beach Airport is a public facility that is open for use by aircraft - 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The Indian River County Fire Department's Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team is
comprised of firefighters from Fire Station 3, who have received specialized training in aircraft rescue and
fire fighting. This training is mandated by Federal Administration Regulation 139 and enforced by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Currently this team responds from Fire Station 3 for airport standbys, air shows, and airport emergencies. With this team in place, the City of Vero Beach has the ability to bring in large aircraft (over 30 seats) into the Vero Beach Airport on a provisional basis.
